The Finnish Demolition Association’s (FDA) annual industry event, Demolition Day 2023, gathered over 120 professionals in Helsinki.
Attendees included experts in demolition, hazardous materials, and construction and demolition waste management and recycling. Turku Aluepurkaus’ Hepokulta project was awarded the Demolition Project of the Year 2023.
This is Finland’s largest renovation project utilizing the company’s patented hydraulic adhesive technology, which is significantly quieter compared to traditional chipping demolition.
The jury highlighted the project’s impact and scalability as highly significant. Compared to traditional methods, the new technique tripled daily demolition output while halving interior damage to walls meant to be preserved.
The technology is also suitable for interior renovation demolitions. Approximately 90% of the project’s waste material was recycled.
The award was presented at “Purkupäivä” on September 7 in Helsinki.
